Improvement of access to home therapy for patient with chronic kidney disease: the implementation of a new remote monitoring technology in the treatment of patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis in the province of Quebec
Summary
This project is designed to gauge the importance and utility of a cycler with new and innovative remote monitoring features compared with other treatment modalities for dialysis (in-center hemodialysis or standard peritoneal dialysis). The expected positive financial impact of this new technology on the healthcare system can be measured over time, compared to the cost of the standard PD, or compared to the cost of in-center hemodialysis in the case of patients who were not eligible for home dialysis before the availability of the remote monitoring technology. The project also aims at identifying the impact of different resources like education or the addition of a nurse navigator as a resource for the patients who will be recruited by the investigators.
