Supporting patients with chronic kidney disease by evaluating the delivery of educational content about modality choice and generating personas and scenarios to explore cultural context
Summary
Ayogo Health Inc. is working with its Industry Partner Baxter Canada to implement a Quality Improvement Project planned for Kidney Care Centres located in Quebec (McGill University Health Centre) and British Columbia (Fraser Health).
Our process is twofold:
Firstly, we will develop and evaluate digitised educational resources for patients with stage 3B/4 Chronic Kidney Disease, to assist them in deciding on treatment modality. Content will be based on Modality Choices by the BC Renal Agency, taking the form of digital videos, quizzes and articles. We will create an interactive prototype (henceforth: “the tool”), to be evaluated towards the development of a fully-functioning app. We plan to measure patients’ perceived self efficacy (PSE) and Health Literacy (HL), and correlate this with quantitative and qualitative data regarding how each individual patient experienced the tool and its content.
Secondly, towards better understanding the CKD landscape and its stakeholders in a specific cultural context, we will conduct a series of interviews with CKD patients and healthcare providers to generate an initial set of personas and scenarios based on stakeholders in Quebec. Finally, we will conduct an expert review of the personas and scenarios.
Information gleaned from the above two threads will be used to iterate and improve on future delivery of the tool and content at scale.
