Program description

Objectives

The initiative deployed by MEDTEQ+ is supported by the Ministry of Economy Innovation and Energy and the Innovation Office of the Ministry of Health and Social Services. The main objective of the call is to strengthen and improve the resilience of supply chains in the health and social services network through the use of innovative Quebec companies.

This second call is aimed at Quebec companies that have developed medical and digital health technologies at the pre-commercialization stage (TRL 7-9) for home care support. Users and professionals will thus benefit from an improvement in their environment and care through early access to these innovative solutions.

The program, Vitrine d’innovations en santé, aims to increase the proportion of Quebec-produced goods in the supply chains of the health and social services network. To do so, the program will financially support Quebec companies wishing to propose innovative technologies on the verge of being commercialized to solve the needs expressed by the health and social services network. In addition to the potential for access to this market, the information gathered during the project will allow participating companies to refine their commercial and reimbursement strategies for export purposes.

Eligibility

Eligible companies

Companies must :

  • be legally constituted under the laws of the Government of Quebec or Canada and registered with the Quebec Enterprise Registrar;
  • have their head office, as well as the majority of their jobs and activities located or carried out in Québec;
  • have developed and hold, in whole or in part, the intellectual property of a medical technology or a digital health technology that meets the needs expressed in the call.

Eligible technologies

Eligible technologies are innovations in medical technology or digital health that will address the stated needs in home support by :

  • Promoting the restoration or development of users’ autonomy and the preservation of their physical, mental and cognitive health;
  • Supporting staff activities with tools to reduce task complexity, workload and health and safety risks;
  • Improving the internal processes of home support services in order to maximise the time spent on providing care and services to users.

Eligible projects

The projects should make it possible to assess the relevance and value of the technology through an evaluation in real-life situations. They will make it possible to identify possible risks related to their integration into the health and social services network, as well as, if necessary, to plan for possible change management.

Considering the current context surrounding the workforce, innovation projects that reduce the workload of staff are encouraged.

The maximum duration of the project will be 6 months.

Funding and eligible expenses

Under the second call, projects will be eligible for a grant of 50% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of $350,000.

In total, this program has a budget of $12 million spread over three years, and will address various priority challenges in the health and social services network.

Submitting an application

The submission of proposals is carried out in two stages. First, interested companies are asked to express their interest and to present their technology by submitting the intention form in French accompanied by a short video and by participating in a question and answer session. All of this information will be evaluated and will identify the companies that will be invited to plan a project with the evaluation teams mandated to submit a funding application.
